Sbarco ad Ancona

Piazza della Mole Vanvitelliana, Ancona

March 07, 2017 — Permanent

Sbarco enters the square of the Mole Vanvitelliana in Ancona as a monument that seems to move, heading beyond the walls—towards the port or into the city. The sculpture reflects the clear, defined lines of Vanvitelli’s architecture while capturing the unpredictable flow of life that surrounds it.
It is a monument to indeterminacy.
It narrates that pivotal moment when one must take on the responsibilities and joys of life, with the horizon of the future ahead and the effort to step into the immediate present.
It is a boat transforming into a roof, an unexpected horizon that lies ahead but also limits one's vision.
It is an invitation to embark and seek shelter, to find balance between the concept of "home" and the concept of "journey."
It represents a motionless and cyclical journey, an arrival or a departure. The visitor is left to imagine the destination, the identity of the people disembarking or boarding, and to ponder the fate and purpose of the boat.
